Candidate Statement for WD AFS Nominating Committee Reprsentative (2002 elections)

Steve Wolff

Steve Wolff currently serves as the Aquatic Habitat Program Manager for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. He holds an M.S. in Water Resources and a B.S. in Fisheries, both from the University of Wyoming. The majority of his career has been spent with the Wyoming Water Research Center as a research associate, and with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as an aquatic biologist. Steve has also worked throughout the western United States conducting instream flow assessments and aquatic habitat evaluations for private consulting firms.

Steve has been a member of the American Fisheries Society since 1980, a life member since 1990, and is a Certified Fisheries Scientist. He has served a variety of roles in the AFS community, and currently serves on the AFS Board of Professional Certification. Steve has been on the Board of Directors for the Wyoming Riparian Association since 1996, just recently completed a tenure on the Western Governors Association TMDL Committee, and currently serves on the National Partnerships Whirling Disease Steering Committee.

Steve was awarded Employee of the Year 2000 by the Office of the Director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and currently is involved with the Department's Leadership Development Program. His current professional interests are focused on the restoration of watershed systems to benefit native aquatic species.
