CONFLUENCE: Art of the Trout Fly. The University of Idahos Prichard Art Gallery, in Moscow, Idaho, is hosting a major international exhibit from June 11, 1999 through August 6.
The show features fishing flies tied by more than 80 renowned fly tying artists from across the United States and fourteen countries. The classic salmon patterns tied by some of the Europes finest tiers are particularly stunning, and the work of the Japanese tiers defies description. Never before has such an extensive and varied collection of flies been exhibited. Selected items will be for sale to the public.
This show will also exhibit a wide variety of other art forms related to the celebration of fly fishing. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, and prints will represent the visual arts. Hand-made split cane fly rods, nets, and reels will demonstrate the arts of noted craftsmen, and the literary arts will be represented by works from contemporary writers. Flies tied by Shane Stalcup and Harry Mason will be on display along with creations from more than 80 other renowned tiers.
More than simply static gallery exhibitions, this living show will feature scheduled lectures, demonstrations, and workshops on the skills of fly fishing, the resource, conservation, and the environment. It will offer opportunities for visitors to get involved on a personal level regardless of their past experience, or lack of it, with fly fishing. This is truly a show for the entire family
