Workshop Description: The workshop will last approximately 8 hours, beginning with an afternoon session on Monday followed by a morning session on Tuesday. The first half of the workshop will include a review of basic statistical theory and current practices in hypothesis testing and estimation. Four topics will then be presented via a mix of concepts and examples, focusing on fisheries applications. The course participants will then be surveyed and asked to prioritize the topics for in-depth presentation on Tuesday. The participants will set the pace and depth of Tuesday's workshop.
About the Instructor: Ken Gerow is Associate Professor of Statistics and Zoology & Physiology at the University of Wyoming. His research interests are somewhat eclectic and reactive to the needs of his biologist (terrestrial and aquatic, flora and fauna, macro and micro) colleagues. Presentations by additional instructors may be incorporated into the program.
