2002 Annual Western Division AFS Meeting

April 27 to May 1, 2002
The 2002 Annual Meeting of the Western Division of the American
Fisheries Society (WDAFS) will be held in Spokane, Washington on April 27 to May
1, 2002.
The meeting, which will be convened jointly by the WDAFS, the
Transboundary Group (which is comprised of a number of government, tribal, and
non-governmental organizations with an interest in the transboundary portions of
the Columbia River Basin), the Lake Roosevelt Forum (LRF), the Sustainable
Fisheries Foundation, and the North Pacific International Chapter-AFS (NPIC), is
entitled Toward Ecosystem-Based Management: Breaking Down the Barriers in
the Columbia River Basin and Beyond.

Specific Information regarding the WD AFS at the annual
meeting:

The WDAFS Annual Business meeting will be held at 7 AM,
Tuesday, April 29. The meeting highlight will be a keynote address by AFS
President Ken Beal. The necessary business for the annual meeting includes
voting on two by-law changes described elsewhere in this newsletter. Some
WDAFS awards will also be presented at the breakfast. A buffet breakfast,
included in your registration, will be served beginning at 6:50 AM. |

AFS Leadership Training, presented by AFS Past President
Carl Burger will be featured for 8-10 AM Sunday morning. Carl has an
excellent way of presenting the concepts of leadership principles and
compliments his own experiences with the depth of dynamic invited speakers.
For any of you interested in developing your AFS and other professional
leadership skills, you won't want to miss this exceptional opportunity. |
